Exercise can be a difficult task for any individual to do with a job and other tasks to do in life.  Performance enhancement skills used in sport psychology are also used in performance psychology to help individuals begin, maintain, and perform at their peak in exercise.  This includes accomplishing their goals related to health and exercise.  Individuals participate in exercise for a variety of reasons such as to lose weight, to gain muscle, or to maintain weight.

As a performance enhancement consultant, I offer one on one private individual performance consulting sessions.  Performance consulting sessions are also offered in groups.

The first session includes gathering information on exercising or physical activity done in the past.  We introduce performance enhancement skills to the exerciser to improve his or her performance. We also establish a plan for future sessions to address issues that prevent an exerciser from starting, resuming, maintaining, or performing at their peak.  The plan also includes exercises and physical activity planned ahead of time to work around potential obstacles that prevent an individual from doing exercise.

Every session following the first session focuses on the progress that an exerciser has made in using performance enhancement skills to improve his or her performance and working with the exerciser on any other performance issues that have come up.

The topics frequently covered during a session include starting exercise, maintaining exercise, peak performance, goal-setting, motivation, routines, strategies against negative self-talk, overtraining, injury prevention/recovery, and burnout prevention/recovery.
